TOXIC SMOKE FROM GENERATORS



Background

In my country we never get power supply for more that 8 hours in day. As a result, many people depend petrol or diesel powered generators for power in their homes and offices. However, the smoke from the generators can actually lead to a fatality.

Where do you keep your generator?

It is important to note that generators produce Carbon Monoxide. A toxic gas that can actually kill within minutes of constant exposure. Always run generators outside residential buildings or rooms and spaces that are inhabited. Never run a generator close to a window, especially if you must sleep with the generator on.

If you ever notice that a person has been exposed to carbon monoxide, moved them immediately to an open area where there is oxygen and call for help immediately.
